THE VIBRATIONAL SPECTRUM OF DIMETHYLSULFIDE-BORANE

Abstract

Author Institution: Department of Chemistry, Geneva CollegeThe vibrational infrared spectrum of dimethylsulfide-borane in the liquid (25∘C)(25^{\circ} C) and solid (βˆ’196∘C-196^{\circ} C) states was studied from 4000 to 400cmβˆ’1400 cm^{-1} as well as the Raman spectrum of the liquid sample. In addition the vibrational spectra of (CH3)2SB10H3(CH_{3})_{2}SB^{10}H_{3} and (CH3)2SBD3(CH_{3})_{2}SBD_{3} were studied. The observed frequencies of the various samples and their assignments will be discussed on the basis of a Cβˆ—βˆ—βˆ—C_{***} molecular model for dimethylsulfide-borane
