The legitimacy of the asturian kingns in the Chronicles of Alfonso III

Abstract

Este trabajo tratará de explicar las principales manipulaciones históricas que presentan las crónicas de Alfonso III y cómo encajan en el ideario político propuesto por la monarquía asturiana. Estos cambios están encaminados a reforzar la legitimidad de la monarquía asturiana desde sus orígenes creando para ello un ideario político fundamentado sobre tres pilares: la herencia sanguínea, la victoria militar y la existencia de una figura carismática cuya actuación es incontestable. Además se tratará de demostrar cómo este ideario se impone y perdura en el tiempo a través de la iconografíaThis paper tries to explain the main historical manipulation in the Chronicles of Alfonso III and how it is inserted in the political ideology of the Asturian monarchy. This changes were meant to create an ideology based on three columns: the blood inheritance, the military victory and the existence of a carismatic person whose rol is incontenstable. After that I want to show how this ideology had sucess over time through the iconograph
