Utilizing the data, collected from Honghe County Gazetter, concerning the prohibition against poppy & opium and the introduction of substitute crop for poppy, this paper 1) shows the prosperity and decay of the production, distribution and utilization /consumption of poppy & opium on Honghe County, Yunnan Province and 2) describes the regional eco-history focused on this county
