UNH Today. 663.https://scholars.unh.edu/news/6639/17/2016 UNH Chapter of French Honor Society Kicks Off Fundraising Projecthttp://www.unh.edu/delete/news/cj_nr/2007/mar/lw06french.cfm.html 1/1UNH Media Relations UNH Chapter Of French Honor Society Kicks OffFundraising ProjectContact:  Lori Wright 603­862­0574UNH Media RelationsMarch 6, 2007DURHAM, N.H. ­­ The University of New Hampshire chapter of Pi Delta Phi, the French nationalhonor society, plans to honor two 19th century French writers with its spring fundraisingefforts.Each year Pi Delta Phi promotes an awareness and understanding of the contributions madeby speakers of French from around the world. This year, UNH students hope to raise $500 tofund a dedicated front­row seat with a commemorative plaque at The Music Hall inPortsmouth honoring French dramatist Alexandre Dumas pere, author of “The ThreeMusketeers” and “The Count of Monte Cristo,” and New Orleans­born French playwright VictorSejour. Both writers, whose dramas were highly successful in 19th century Paris, were ofblack ancestry.Chapter members will sell raffle tickets now through March 29 for $5 each. The prize drawingwill be held March 30. Tickets are available in 210 Murkland Hall from Barbara Armstrong,603­862­3856. Winners need not be present at the drawing, but prizes must be picked up oncampus.This year's grand prize is in­home cooking lessons for two from top chef Chris Williams. Aminimum of five tickets must be purchased to be eligible. The second­prize winner will takehome tickets for free films at The Music Hall worth $32. A minimum of three tickets must bepurchased to be eligible. Other prizes, including signed translations of the works of Dumasand Sejour, French foods and food service items, French bath and beauty items, chocolatesand books, require the purchase of one ticket.Information on the raffle and on Dumas and Sejour is available athttp://www.unh.edu/languages/LLC/French/frenchresources/raffle/index.html.
