La colaboración entre la universidad española de Oviedo y la universidad portuguesa
de Tras os Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), ha permitido replicar el proyecto financiado por
la primera, titulado “Animación hospitalaria y mediadores ambientales simbólicos en el
Hospital Materno-Infantil de Oviedo” (Valdés, Bermúdez y Torío, 2007), en el Hospital de
Chaves (Portugal).
Los cuestionarios originales sintetizados y traducidos al idioma portugués, fueron cumplimentados
por pacientes, familiares, voluntarios, educadora y personal sanitario del
Hospital de Chaves, durante el último cuatrimestre de 2008.
Se destacan las percepciones de los pacientes pediátricos sobre el uso del tiempo libre
de los enfermos en el hospital, y se aboga por la realización de una animación hospitalaria

project “Hospital Animation and Symbolic Environmental Mediators at Hospital Materno
Infantil of Oviedo”, sponsored by the former, at Chaves Hospital (Portugal). The original survey, shortened and translated into Portuguese, was filled in by some
patients, their relatives, educators and staff of Chaves Hospital during the last four months
of 2008.
The perceptions of paediatrics patients about the use of their free time stand out and the
