Abstract
Los estudios sobre la antigüedad tardía han provocado que crezca el interés por la literatura griega y
latina de época imperial y, con ello, por la retórica tardo-antigua. Desde hace varias décadas se ha propuesto
denominar como “Tercera Sofística” a las producciones retóricas de los siglos IV-VI. Al margen de la
conveniencia de esta nueva clasificación, es llamativo que el sintagma “Tercera Sofística” haya sido aplicado para
bautizar nuevos movimientos filosóficos, historiográficos y literarios. Este trabajo se propone estudiar, catalogar y
describir las diferentes “Terceras Sofísticas” que han venido apareciendoThe study of Late Antiquity has generated an increasing interest not only within the realms of the
Imperial Greek and Latin literature but also within the rhetorical milieu of the Roman Empire. In last decades,
efforts have been made to try to categorize rhetorical works from the fourth to the sixth centuries under a unified
term, namely “Third Sophistic”. The impact of such a denomination has led to the naming of several
contemporary philosophical, historiographical and literary movements. The aim of this paper is to study, survey,
and discuss in further detail these “Third Sophistics” that have appeared over the course of recent decadesEste artículo se ha realizado gracias a la concesión de un contrato Ramón y Cajal por parte de
