Evaluación de la evolución de la demanda de salud oral a través del uso de sistemas de información en salud

Abstract

To assess the trends of demand of oral health in the municipality of Amaral Ferrador, southern Brazil, through a historical series, from 2000 to 2007, and to contribute to establish the effort to reach the universal coverage of oralhealth in small municipalities. This study is a review of secondary data, contained in the database of the Ministry of Health of Brazil. The reference population was residents of the locality studied. To data collections to characterize the demand were used oral health indicators. The results showed a considerable increase in the number of Individual Basic Procedures and in indicator of 1st Dental Consultation. The proportion of tooth extractions showed a relative reduction regarding the total dental procedures, despite the stability in the number of annual dental extractions (around 600) observed along the period. It was also identified a remarkable variability in the frequency of Collective Procedures. There was a constant increase of the population coverage of the procedures of Oral Health, especially related to the increase of individual procedures.Descriptors: family health program; needs and demands in health services; information systems; oral health systems
