The six mostprevalent mango diseases occurring in the Brazilian semi-arid regionwere selected. Taking into account previous studies, the followingdata were distinct1y defined: the plant organs most susceptible toinfections; year period and plant stage of greatest occurrence of thediseases, and seasonal periods most favoring the diseases. Gradescales were applied and levels requiring immediate control weredefined through quantitative occurrence data. The results from oneyear are being kept to be used in a computerized program to serve asWarning Station; they already show decrease in the number ofpesticide applications and, consequently, production cost reduction.The results also show a consciousness about the importance of thisstudy for all who take part of the mango productive chain, as well asincrease the knowledge and speed in disease diagnoses.Program and Abstracts 171
