El presente trabajo de investigación es de tipo descriptivo, basado en trabajo de campo, con el título “Impacto de la implementación de la ley 1259 de 2008 en la cultura ciudadana del municipio de Pereira, Risaralda en el período 2008-2013” la información primaria se obtuvo mediante una muestra aleatoria simple de la población dirigida a hombres y mujeres entre 18 y 70 años del casco urbano de la ciudad de Pereira, a quienes se les aplico una encuesta con preguntas abiertas y cerradas, con el fin de recoger información sobre el conocimiento acerca de la ley 1259 de 2008 comparendo ambiental y así mismo sobre el manejo de los residuos sólidos, actitudes y percepciones sobre el tema medioambiental y cultura ciudadana en la ciudad. Para la información secundaria fue necesario hacer uso de material bibliográfico relacionado con los temas tratados a lo largo del trabajo.The present research work is descriptive, based on field work, entitled "Impact of the implementation of the law 1259 of 2008 in the civic culture of the city of Pereira,

closed questions, in order to ghater some information about the knowledge of the law 1259 of 2008 environmental subpoena and in the same way about the handling of the solid waste, attitudes and perceptions about environmental issues and civic culture in the city. To the secondary information it was necessary to use
bibliography material related to the topics discussed through the work. With the information that was collected was applied Vester methodology focused on education, whereby was made a prioritization of problems identified above causing inadequate enforcement of environmental subpoena in Pereira; this
confirm the existence of a variety of conflicts that were related whit the implemantetion of the subpoena in which are the lowest knowledge by the citizens, the weak enviromental culture and the improper disposal of the solid waste in the same way the low grade of fulfillment by the municipal administration about the
performing of the activities and dutys described on the law. The problem requires a solution, for which it was realized a proposed a culture and an administrative management to be developed by the municipal administration and the competent authorities, directed to different social public in order to generate a coordinated, greater citizen engagement with the urban environment
