O presente estudo procura analisar de que forma foi
o Sindicato Nacional dos Psicólogos influenciado, a
nível organizacional, pelos factores que potenciaram
os principais momentos de mudança ocorridos ao
longo da sua história. O objectivo central do trabalho é
descrever um traçado histórico da instituição, centrado
nos seus principais momentos de mudança. Ao nível
bibliográfico, o estudo apresenta o seu contributo no
seu contexto específico, ou seja, descrevendo a história
da instituição, sob o ponto de vista de um fenómeno
organizacional – a mudança. Inerente ao objectivo,
surgiu a necessidade de identificar a fase do ciclo de
vida organizacional em que se encontra o SNP, de
acordo com o modelo de Hisrich e Peters (2002). Este é
um estudo de caso de carácter essencialmente descritivo.
Com base em dados recolhidos a partir de entrevistas,
documentos de arquivo e outra documentação, concluiuse
que a história do SNP se centra em sete momentos
essenciais, encontrando-se a instituição, no presente,
numa fase de renascimento, ou mesmo numa nova fase
de crescimento, de acordo com o referido modelo.
ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze how the Portuguese
National Union of Psychologists (Sindicato Nacional
dos Psicólogos) has been influenced in organizational
terms by the factors that have brought about the
principal changes in its history. The central aim of the
study is to provide a historical outline of the
institution’s history, focused on its principal moments
of change. By doing so, the study accomplishes it’s
theoretical contribute by analyzing the history of the
institution from an organizational phenomenon’s point
of view – change. Inherent to completing this central
aim was the need to identify which organizational lifecycle
phase the SNP is currently in, as per the Hisrich
and Peters model (2002). This case study is, primarily,
descriptive in nature. Based on data collected from
oral interviews, archives and other documentation, the
study concludes that the history of the SNP has been
influenced by seven key moments, and that in terms of
the above-mentioned model, the institution is currently
in a rebirth phase, or possibly even in a new growth
phase
