V diplomski nalogi sem si za tematiko izbrala turizem, saj le-ta v določeni regiji poudari pomen naravnih, kulturnih, zgodovinskih, etnoloških in drugih unikatnih značilnosti ter ob ustreznem koriščenju le-teh pripomore k splošnemu razvoju in boljši kvaliteti življenja prebivalcev regije. V okviru te tematike sem izbrala Koroško regijo, podrobneje sem se usmerila na turistični potencial spodnje Mežiške doline, to je na občini Ravne na Koroškem in Prevalje. Na obravnavanem območju je precej neizkoriščenih lepot in značilnosti, ki so zaradi različnih razlogov poznane le domačinom. Med glavnimi problemi za razvoj turizma v regiji je pomanjkanje finančnih virov, razkropljenost turistične infrastrukture ter pomanjkljivo sodelovanje med občinami.
V uvodu sem opisala namen in cilje diplomske naloge ter predstavila načine in metode dela, ki sem jih v procesu nastajanja dela uporabila. Drugo poglavje je namenjeno geografski predstavitvi spodnje Mežiške doline. Opredelila sem lego in predstavila naravno in družbeno-geografske značilnosti obravnavanega območja. V naslednjem poglavju sem se usmerila v pregled turističnega potenciala in znamenitosti v obeh občinah. Opisala sem naravne danosti, zgodovinsko in kulturno dediščino, sakralne znamenitosti in arhitekturno-etnološke značilnosti. Četrto poglavje predstavlja že obstoječo bolj ali manj izkoriščeno turistično ponudbo, kjer sem predstavila gostinsko ponudbo, turistične kmetije in planinske koče, prenočitvene zmogljivosti, tematske poti, tradicionalne prireditve in športno infrastrukturo obeh občin.
V drugem delu diplomske naloge sem naredila povzetek raziskave LAS-a o strategiji razvoja v Mežiški dolini, ki je bila narejena leta 2010. Naslednje poglavje vsebuje moje lastne predloge za preživljanje prostega časa v spodnji Mežiški dolini. Naredila sem program za dva enodnevna izleta (ekskurzijo za osnovnošolce in izlet za odraslega turista) in dve vikend ponudbi (prireditvena in športna tematika). Naredila sem zloženke, v katerih je posamezni program tudi predstavljen. V zaključku sem strnila ugotovitve ter povzela prednosti, slabosti, nevarnosti in priložnosti za večji razmah turizma v spodnji Mežiški dolini.In my dissertation I chose to present the tourism, which in a certain region emphasizes the meaning of natural, cultural, historical, ethnological and other unique features and by their appropriate usage it contributes to the general development and better quality of life for the inhabitants of the region. In the frame of this theme I chose the Koroška region, I gave attention especially to the touristic potential of lower Meža valley in municipalities Ravne na Koroškem and Prevalje. There are a lot of unexploited beauties and features in the discussed area which are of different reasons well-known only to the locals. The main reasons for deficient development of tourism within the region are lack of financial resources, widely spreading tourist infrastructure and deficient cooperation between municipalities.
In the first part I presented the intention and goals of the dissertation and also manners and methods I used during the process of its developing. The second chapter is about geographical presentation of lower Meža valley. I defined position and presented natural and social geographical features of the discussed area. In the next chapter I examined the touristic potential and sights in both municipalities. I described natural riches, historical and cultural legacy, religious sights and architecturally ethnological features. The fourth chapter presents the existing more or less utilized touristic offering, where I introduced catering industry, tourist farms and alpine huts, accommodation capacities, theme trails, traditional events and sport facilities of both municipalities.
In the second part of the dissertation I summarized the LAS research about the strategy of the development in Meža valley which was made in the 2010. The next chapter contains my personal suggestions for spending free time in the Meža valley. I made a program for two day trips (excursion for primary school pupils and a trip for a grown-up tourist) and two week-end packages (event and sport theme). I made brochures which contain each program. In the conclusion I presented the findings and summarized advantages, disadvantages, dangers and opportunities for bigger growth of tourism in the Meža valley
