Občina Zagorje ob Savi spada med okoljsko najbolj degradirana območja Slovenije, kar je posledica 240-letne zgodovine rudarjenja, elektrogospodarstva in industrijske proizvodnje. Kot edino možno perspektivo razvoja je potrebno uveljaviti trajnostni razvoj.
V diplomski nalogi so prikazane naravnogeografske in družbenogeografske značilnosti občine, ocena potencialov in konkretni predlogi možne rabe obnovljivih virov energije, kot so biomasa, sončna energija, hidroenergija, geotermalna energija in vetrna energija. Predstavljeni so izračuni privarčevane energije in s tem povezani manjši izpusti CO2.Kot najpomembnejši ekološki projekt je predstavljen mednarodni projekt REMINING-LOWEX (Redevelopment of European Mining Areas into Sustainable Comunities by Integrating Supply and Demand Side based on Low Energy Principles), v katerem občina Zagorje ob Savi sodeluje od leta 2006. Temeljni namen tega projekta je spodbuditi razvoj obnovljivih virov energije v mestih, ki so bila v preteklosti pod vplivom rudarske dejavnosti.The Zagorje ob Savi municipality belongs to one of the most environmentally degraded regions in Slovenia. This is a consequence of the past, which was marked by heavy industry. 240 years of mining, power industry and industrial production changed the environment of the region and thus sustainable development seems the only possible prospect of development.
In this thesis we present natural, social and geographical characteristics of the municipality and the evaluation of potentials, along with concrete examples of possible usage of renewable energy sources: biomass, solar energy, hydro energy, geothermic energy and wind power. We discuss the calculations of saved energy and, consequently, lesser omissions of CO2. The thesis presents important international ecological project REMINING-LOWEX (Redevelopment of European Mining Areas into Sustainable Comunities by Integrating Supply and Demand Side based on Low Energy Principles),a part of which Zagorje ob Savi municipality has been since 2006. The main purpose of this project is to encourage the development of renewable energy sources in those parts that were, in the past, under the influence of mining activities
