Catalina Micaela de Habsburgo y Valois, infanta de España
y duquesa de Saboya, falleció el 6 de noviembre de 1597, a la edad de
treinta años. La segunda hija del monarca Felipe II e Isabel de Francia
fue despedida en España con el boato y pompa dignos de una princesa
de tan alto abolengo.En el Archivo General de Palacio se han hallado diversos documentos,sobre los lutos que se sucedieron en Madrid en honor a la infanta
Catalina Micaela, que así lo manifiestan. El presente artículo recoge y analiza dichos testimonios de este
acontecimiento hasta ahora muy poco conocido.Catherine Michelle of Habsburg and Valois, Infant of Spain
and Duchess of Savoy, died on 6 November, 1597, when she was thirty
years old. Th e second daughter of Philipp II and Isabel of France was
dismissed in Spain with the luxury and pomp such of a high lineage
princess. In the General Archivo of the Palace there are various
documents about the mourning in Madrid in honor of the Infant
