En este trabajo hemos intentado analizar, por una parte, la vida de la cartaginesa Sofonisba
tomando como referencia el testimonio de tres historiadores de la Antigüedad, Polibio,
Tito Livio y Apiano, y por otra, su pervivencia en dos grandes escritores italianos, Francesco
Petrarca y Giovanni Boccaccio, y en un par de textos castellanos.In this work, we have attempted to analyse, on one hand, the life of Sophonisba of Carthago,
taking as a reference the witness of three historians of the Ancient World, namely,
Polybius, Titus Livius, and Appian. On the other hand, we will consider her perdurance
both in the works of two great Italian writers: Petrarch and Giovanni Boccaccio, and in a
couple of Castilian texts
