The relat ionship between the precisions of strain components calculated by the t riangularmethod and the shape factor are studied. A method covering all of dif ferent t riang le shapes is designed and thedist ribut ions of the precisions of st rain components are obtained in the cases of dif ferent t riangle shapes. T hestudy show s that if the shape factor larg er than 0. 36, the standard deviat ions of strain components obtained w illbe less than three times of the standard deviat ion of displacement ; if the shape factor less than 0. 1, the standarddeviat ions of strain components obtained w ill increase considerably and then these triangles are not suitable forcalculating the strain components.
