Abstract
Con Arcesilao y Carnéades la Academia platónica alcanzó uno de sus rostros más sugerente debido al escepticismo moderado; con sus seguidores, la Academia reorientará su filosofía hacia un llamativo dogmatismo que paulatinamente la llevará a su ruina. Poco a poco, el escepticismo se atenuará, dando paso a posiciones semi-dogmáticas primero y a un dogmatismo feroz después. Esta fue la razón de la desaparición del escepticismo académico primero, –recuperado con posterioridad por Enesidemo en una nueva línea escéptica más radical y técnica-, y de la Academia mismaThrough the moderate scepticism propounded by Arcesilaus and Carneades, the Academy experienced one of its finest moments; under their followers, the philosophical stance of the Academy shifted towards a striking dogmatism which eventually prompted its downfall. Little by little, scepticism began to fade, giving way first to a semi-dogmatic outlook and later to the most unyielding dogmatism. This shift in position was the reason for the demise, first of Academic scepticism – which was later to be restored with certain distinctive features by Aenesidemus, drawing on the more radical, technical tradition of Pyrrho of Elis – and eventually of the Academy itself
