Este artículo analiza el concepto de hana (la flor) en la cultura japonesa y, en particular, en la literatura japonesa. El ancestral fenómeno de contemplar el cerezo en flor (hanami) y el arte tradicional de arreglar las flores (ikebana) son ejemplos que reflejan la atención especial que otorga el pueblo japonés a las flores. The ancient phenomenon of contemplating the cherry blossoms (hanami) and the traditional art of flower arrangement (ikebana) are examples that reflect well the special consideration rendered to the flowers by Japanese people.
