Se analiza el relato que recoge la destrucción del serapeo de Alejandría en pleno momento de triunfo del Cristianismo. La reconstrucción de los hechos ofrecida por la historiografía cristiana ha convertido este episodio en paradigma del proceso de cristianización definido por una política coercitiva. Sin embargo el análisis del marco histórico en el que se integra la destrucción de este recinto sacro, obliga a considerar un conjunto de circunstancias no exclusivamente religiosas y más complejas que las relaciones supuestamente tensas entre paganos y cristianos.___________________________This paper is concerned with one
