Residential care as a developmental context from the professional's point of view

Abstract

El presente artículo constituye un estudio cualitativo exploratorio de la opinión de los educadores y los equipos técnicos de los centros de protección de menores, sobre las diferencias entre el contexto residencial y el familiar en la satisfacción de las necesidades infantiles y adolescentes. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas individuales con quince profesionales del sistema de protección que tenían, como mínimo, una antigüedad de un curso escolar en su puesto laboral. Los protocolos fueron transcritos íntegramente y mediante el programa QDA Miner 1.2., se realizó un análisis de contenido y una posterior categorización. Se concluye poniendo de manifiesto las diferencias atribuidas por los profesionales a estos dos contextos, especialmente sobre la satisfacción de la necesidad de afectoOpinions of educators and technical staff from two residential care institutions on the differences between residential care and family care in meeting the needs of children and adolescents were analyzed. In order to do that, individual, semi-structured interviews were carried on, in which they were asked to reflect upon their educational practice. A sample of 15 professionals, each one with at least one year of working experience in this type of care, was selected. Using fully-transcribed interview protocols and with the help of QDA Miner 1.2. Software, a content analysis and a process of interview’s categorization were developed.
