L’objectif de notre réflexion est de montrer que les représentations qu’un individu a de son milieu de vie nourrissent un certain idéal géographique. Cet idéal prend la forme tantôt d’un mythe, tantôt d’une utopie et participe à la construction de la territorialité et de l’identité de l’individu. De tels propos permettent de repenser le lieu d’habitat, en tant qu’idéal à atteindre, et invitent à en considérer le sens à la lumière de la réalisation ou de la non réalisation de cet idéal.Our goal here is to show that an individual’s representations of his habitat nurture a certain geographic ideal. This ideal appears sometimes as myth, sometimes as utopia and contributes to the construction of individual identity and territoriality. Such reflections enable us to redefine an individual’s habitat as an ideal to be achieved; they also invite us to consider the meaning of habitat as the achievement or non-achievement of this ideal
