L’auteur trace un bref historique de la psychiatrie au Québec et tente de montrer que les facteurs économiques influencent l’évolution sociale. Après avoir montré que les coûts en santé mentale atteignent 500 millions $, il fait un appel à la rationalisation des services en ce temps d’austérité économique.The author gives a brief history of psychiatry in Quebec and attempts to show that economic factors influence social evolution. After having shown that the costs of mental health reach$ 500 millions, he makes an appeal for the rationalization of services in this time of economic austerity
