Chapel programs will bring to campus clergymen and religious scholars representing the world's great faiths: Christianity, Judaism, and Hinduism. They also will probe some of the great social and philosophical topics facing contemporary religious thought, including gay-straight issues. Unless otherwise noted, all events listed below take place on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in Evelyn Chapel, 1301 N. Park St., Bloomington. The chapel-program lineup for August-December is: o Aug. 20--Ecumenical service for the families of first-year students (Sunday, 10:30 a.m.). Topic: "Getting Where You Want to Go." Speaker: University Chaplain Dennis Groh. o Aug. 27--A service for the class of 2004 (first-year students, Sunday, 10 a.m.). Topic: "God Has to Have a Skin." Speaker: University Chaplain Dennis Groh. o Sept. 6--Multi-Faith Service of Welcome. Speakers: Representatives of Campus Religious Groups, University Chaplain Dennis Groh. o Sept. 10--University Family Day Service (Sunday, 10 a.m.). Speakers: IWU students, University Chaplain Dennis Groh. o Sept. 13--A Worship Service of Hindu Classical Dance. Performer: Tonushree Jaggi, Harvard University, class of 2001. She is the daughter of Narendra Jaggi, IWU professor and chair of physics. o Sept. 20--Topic: "Commandments or That Face-to-Face Thing?" Speaker: University Chaplain Dennis Groh. o Sept. 27--Roman Catholic Mass: A Demonstration Service. Celebrated by: Dr. Thomas F. Fouther, Jr., senior minister, Church of the Open Door, Miami, Fla. o Oct. 15--Homecoming Chapel (Sunday, 10 a.m.). Topic: "Where You Once Belonged." Speaker: University Chaplain Dennis Groh. o Oct. 18--Music and Healing with Therese Schroeder-Sheker, academic dean, Chalice of Repose Project, School of Music-Thanatology, Missoula, Mont. o Oct. 25-26--A Sesquicentennial Symposium. Topic: "The Role of Religion in the University of the 21st Century." In addition to the inaugural session at 11 a.m., Oct. 25 in Evelyn Chapel, individual speakers and sessions will be announced later. Officiating: Rev. C. Raydean Davis, IWU Chaplain Dennis Groh. These programs are sponsored by the University Chaplain's Office and the Evelyn Chapel Advisory Board. IWU, founded in 1850, enrolls about 2,000 students in a College of Liberal Arts, and individual schools of Music, Theatre Arts, Art, and Nursing. Since 1994, these facilities have been added to the IWU campus: a $15 million athletics and recreation center, a $25 million science center, a $6.8 million residence hall, a $5.1 million Center for Liberal Arts, and a $1.65 million baseball stadium. A $26 million library and a $6 million student center are under construction.  As IWU approached its sesquicentennial, which will be celebrated during the 2000-2001 school year, it won several national accolades. It's ranked among the nation's most selective liberal-arts campuses by U.S. News & World Report. It's ranked 12th nationally by Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine among private colleges and universities in terms of delivering high-quality education at an affordable cost. It's ranked the 8th "most wired" college in the nation by Yahoo! Internet Life. Men's Health magazine ranks IWU among the 10 "most male-friendly colleges in America."  --30--
