IX10The Class of 2001Sabeen Ali is an economics major and politicalscience minor from Pakistan.  Her senior project wason the IMF's solution for the financial meltdown inThailand, beginning in 1997.  She graduated inDecember 2000 and is now living out her dream,working as a consultant for Ernst and Young.Ketan Amin is an economics and biology doublemajor from Mattoon, IL.  He wrote his senior projecton income inequality and its relation to health.  Hewas able to positively correlate high-income inequalitywith low levels of health in a country.  He will beattending medical school after graduation, where hehopes to attain the skills to pursue his ideal job as adoctor in the suburbs.  His most memorable momentat IWU was when the Economics Society defeatedthe Accounting Society at bowling.Pritam Banerjee is an economics major fromCalcutta, India. He wrote his senior project on theEffectiveness of Regional Integration in developingcountries.  Following graduation he hopes to getinvolved in development work or emerging markets,and then attend graduate school for further study ineconomics.Lisa Birr is an economics and business administrationdouble major from Elgin, IL.  She wrote her seniorproject on the effectiveness of the Federal DepositInsurance Corporation Improvement Act of 1991.She will be working in Peoria, IL for Caterpillar as aPricing Analyst following graduation.  Her ideal jobwould be working in Finance and Investments.  Hertwo most favorable moments were Dr. Seeborg's"crazy" driving to an economics conference at WesternIllinois University, and the one day when he cancelledsenior seminar.Tamara Davis is an economics major and businessminor from Tremont, IL.Julie Dusek is an economics and accounting doublemajor from Bolingbrook, IL.  She wrote her seniorproject on the determinants of divorce for men andwomen.  She will be working in the tax department atArthur Anderson in Chicago following graduation.  Hermost memorable Econ memory is listening to AlanGreenspan, while working at the Federal ReserveBank.Alicia Lange is an economics and psychology doublemajor from Orland Park, IL.  She wrote her seniorproject on the family gap, why mothers earn less thanwomen without children.  She plans to work in theChicago area following graduation, and then pursuean MBA.  Her ideal job would be a consultant or aposition in human resources or market research.Esteban Lizano is an economics and business doublemajor, and a math minor from Costa Rica.  He wrotehis senior project on the factors of production thatcontribute the most to GDP growth.  His plan forafter graduation is to work as a consultant for CapGemini Ernst and Young.  His most memorable momentis bowling with Professor Leekley and Dr. Seeborg.Amber Munday is an economics major andsociology minor from Creve Coeur, IL.  She did hersenior project on the racial differences in IQ testscores, where she looked specifically at the effects ofdifferent neighborhoods.  Immediately followinggraduation, she will be traveling to Tokyo, and thenwill continue her search for the ideal career.  Her mostmemorable moments were bowling with theprofessors and joining the Economics department atMugsy's.Naveen Nallapareddy is an economics major fromFlossmoor, IL.Adam Palmer is an economics major fromNaperville, IL.  He wrote his senior project on the By Alison OliverThe Park Place Economist / vol. IX 11determinants of U.S. agricultural exports to China.He plans on going into the U.S. Navy followinggraduation.  His ideal job would to play baseballprofessionally.  His most memorable moment wasNaveen's senior project presentation.Kenneth Perry is an economics and political sciencedouble major from Orland Park, IL.  He wrote hissenior project on the benefits that communities receivefrom the funding of sports stadiums by state and localgovernments.  He plans to attend law school aftergraduation.  His ideal job would be to run his ownsports management and consulting firm.Ryan Priess is an economics major from Naperville,IL.David Rasho is an economics and businessadministration double  major from Forsyth, IL.  Hewrote his senior project on a 100% reserve goldstandard.  He will be working as an analyst at R.J.Krumm and Associates in Oak Park followinggraduation.Nicole Skalski is an economics and businessadministration double major, and Spanish minor fromFlossmoor, IL.  She wrote her senior project on thewage differentials of the contingent workforce.  Shewill be working in the Internal Audit Department atthe Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago after graduation.Her most memorable moment was when theEconomics Society beat the Accounting Society atbowling.Michelle Stone is an economics and political sciencedouble major, and an International studies minor fromHoffman Estates, IL.  Her senior project involved theeffect of militarization on development in India.  Aftergraduation she will be attending Georgia School ofLaw where she will study International Business Law.She will always remember "how statistics put the fearof God in me, but I won out in the end!"Steven Strnad is an economics and Internationalbusiness double major from Wheaton, IL.  He wrotehis senior project on the return differential betweenmanaged funds and index funds.  He will be joiningPriceWaterhouseCoopers as a consultant aftergraduation.Yuet Wen Wan is an economics major fromMalaysia.  She wrote her senior project on a case ofthe Phillips curve in the European Monetary Union.She looked specifically at the inflation rate as  one ofthe 'convergence criteria' and it's effect onunemployment.  Following graduation, she will beworking as an Associate at Towers Perrin in theExecutive Compensation and the People PerformanceSolutions lines of business.  Her most memorablemoment is when Dr. Seeborg drove down to WesternIllinois University for a conference, and on the wayhome willingly slowed down to see "Purple Pride" ata local bar.Amanda Watson is an economics and politicalscience double major from Normal, IL.  Followinggraduation she plans on attending law school.  Herideal job is to be Governor of Illinois.  Her mostmemorable moment was turning in her Econometricsfinal.
