Tomando como hilo conductor las teorías de R. Menéndez
Pidal sobre el Cantar del Cid y la epopeya occidental, el autor examina las
principales publicaciones sobre los cantares de gesta españoles realizadas
entre 1955 y 2005: en total, una treintena de libros y numerosos artículos
muestran el itinerario de los estudios durante este medio siglo. El trabajo
se completa con una breve referencia a los estudios de la épica románica
en España durante el mismo periodo.Following the theories of R. Menéndez Pidal on the Cantar
del Cid and the Occidental epics, the author of this paper reviews the
main publications on the Spanish cantares de gesta (epic poems), from
1955 to 2005. A total of 30 books and many other articles show the
course that this kind of studies have followed during the past half century.
This paper is complemented by a brief referente to the studies on the
Romanic epic poetry in Spain during the same period
