El Imperio en el siglo I : releyendo a Mazzarino

Abstract

El artículo, siguiendo una genial propuesta de Santo Mazzarino, contrasta los "Evangelia" de los diversos Emperadores del siglo I y el Evangelio de Cristo predicado por San Pablo. Especial atención se presta a las capacidades de cada uno de ellos para afrontar los grandes retos que tenía la sociedad mediterránea en esos años, concluyendo la superioridad en este aspecto del Evangelio paulino, no obstante las muchas ideas y expectativas que compartía con los otros. También se analizan otros procesos históricos novedosos del Imperio en esos años y su trascendencia para el futuro, desde la romanización jurídica a la aparición de nuevas élites sociales, e ideologías y religiones socialmente integradoras.This paper follows a genial issue of Santo Mazzarino, contrasting the Evangelia of the Roman Emperors in the first Century A.D. with the Evangelium of Christus according to Saint Paul's version. An special attention is given to the different capacities of all them for offering solutions to the main challenges of the Mediterranean society in those years. So, the superiority of Saint Paul's message is clear, although it also matched many ideas and hopes of the other ones. The paper also analyses other new historie facts happenend in the Roman Empire in that epoch and their importance for the future: the juridical romanicing process, the new social elites, and some ideologies and religious ideas able to make a social integration
