Research Symposium Poster Proposal Tim Sosin tsosin@liberty.edu     Poster Title:  “The CHIAPET Model: Assimilating a Relational Lifestyle into Counseling Training”  Presenter:  Tim Sosin – tsosin@liberty.edu Graduate Student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Liberty  Summary:  After two years spent in Central Norway doing Ethnographic Research to promote future cross-cultural partnerships, a model was developed to establish uplifting connections between cultures. Those who utilized the model found that it not only enriched relationships, but also fostered lifestyles marked by characteristics of successful, competent and thoughtful counselors.  This poster presentation will present the C.H.I.A.P.E.T. Model and explain its implications for growth and success of aspiring counselors and their clients.  Objectives:  1. To summarize the C.H.I.A.P.E.T. Model: a model that fosters respectful and ethical interactions with clients 2. To explain cultural intelligence and congruence of diverse therapeutic and non-therapeutic relationships 3. To demonstrate how aspiring counselors can thrive in their training by combining their formal education with a flexible relational lifestyle.
