Analyses incidents which occured in hyperbaric medicine units, or as a consequence of hyperbaric oxygen exposure, with the aim of developing recommendations for safety improvement in hyperbaric medical practice. A review of the hyperbaric literature showed that ear barotrauma is the most frequently reported patient complication of hyperbaric treatment, with the second most frequently reported complication being oxygen toxicity.
