De l'intégration aux "patries imaginaires"

Abstract

Integration of immigrants or ethnic minorities can inaugurate new identity searches and constructions, reactualizing scenes invested with imaginary elaborations. This article put forward an analysis of this reactualizing process, and some of its specifications according to whether it concerns populations linked to a colonial history (France, Great-Britain) or longstanding established in a pluri-cultural nation (United-States). It is suggested that this inventive and imaginary stage aims at redefining and reappropriating the formally achieved integration process.RÉSUMÉ: L’intégration dans la société d’accueil, but à atteindre de certaines populations immigrées ou minoritaires, peut se révéler point de départ de nouvelles quêtes et constructions identitaires réactualisant des temps et des lieux investis d’élaborations imaginaires. Le présent article propose une analyse et une interprétation de ce processus de réactualisation, de certaines de ses formes et expressions selon qu’il s’agit de groupements reliés à un passé colonial (France, Grande-Bretagne) ou insérés, de longue date, dans une nation pluriculturelle (États-Unis). En prolongeant un processus d’intégration formellement achevé, cette étape, avec sa part d’invention imaginative, aurait pour fonction de permettre sa redéfinition et sa réappropriation.Jamous Haroun.
