MICHIGAN The Senate Subcommittee on Education, Arts and Humanities and the House Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education, which have responsibility for federal public libraries will hold a joint hearing regarding the Library Services and Construction Act. The Members of the Subcommittees would appreciate hearing your views on the Library Services and Construction Act from the perspective of serving an urban area. How have LSCA funds helped to serve the needs of the Providence community. We would be pleased to hear from you on Tuesday, April 11, at 9:30 a.m. in room 2175 of the Rayburn Office Building. We ask that you provide one hundred (100) copies of your testimony in advance (by noon the day prior to the hearing) and that these statements ar:e-5"ingle-spaced on letter size (8.5 x 11) paper. Please have the copies delivered to the Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education, 616 House Annex 1. It is important that your oral presentation be limited to no more than 5 minutes. We have a number of witnesses who will be testifying and we want to give each of them the opportunity to present their oral testimony and answer any questions that the Members might have. Because of the limited time for the hearings, the Chair will strictly enforce the five minute rule regarding oral testimony. We will notify each witness when five minutes has expired, and give each witness one minute to summarize. At the end of that time, we will proceed to the next witness. We realize that each witness may want to provide the Subcommittees more information than a five minute presentation might allow. Therefore, we want to assure you that your entire written statement will be included in the hearing record and.that it will be reviewed by the Subcommittees. '•"\. - ..
