Your extraordinary efforts in championing cultural programs for those most in need of them will go a long way to bridging the gap between the cultural "haves" and "have-nots" in our society. Although Education Secretary Riley has included the arts as a core subject within GOALS 2000, Title I school districts will never attain these worthy goals without federal encouragement and support. A special thank you is due to your subcommittee staff. Staff Director David Evans and Margaret Smith, along with newcomer Daniel Ritter, serve you well.
