Please include:  1. What library holdings already exist in relevant subject categories, including supporting collections from HELIN. How much money is now allocated in the program area?  $4,888 per year is allocated for History monographic purchases.   As the University already has extensive resources in United States history and many resources in the environmental sciences, the topics covered by the course are well supported. Subject databases such as America: History and Life, Environment Abstracts, and news databases such as LexisNexis Academic and National Newspapers offer extensive indexing, abstracting, and full text in the subject areas. The course is also well supported by journal subscriptions and materials at URI, and by monographs available at the University Libraries and from the HELIN consortium.   2. Does URI have the essential journals as noted in the Faculty Questionnaire?   Yes. The library has an online subscription to a full run of Environmental History, the journal noted as essential in the questionnaire. Given that the students will not be doing intensive research, one instruction session covering monographs and scholarly resources supplemented with librarian availability for follow up questions will be sufficient.   5. What is the approximate cost to acquire the materials necessary? Which of these will be continuing costs?   Based on prices listed on Amazon.com, the approximate cost to purchase the monographs the library does not already have will be $115, an amount easily covered by the budget for History. As these are monographs, there will be no ongoing costs for these purchases.
