In music, the diversity of percussion instruments and the sounds they make is immense. There are millions of recordings in sound libraries, cataloguing the sounds of thousands of different instruments. Finding ways to effectively describe and label all of them is challenging. The Percussive Audio Lexicon provides a comprehensive and uniform vocabulary of over 2500 words and phrases, which users and creators of sound libraries can use to label and catalogue percussive sounds and instruments. It can also function as a tool for teaching music students about percussion. It is the only system of its kind in the world
