Media is one of society reference used to know the information about legislative
institution, which is Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). However, news saw the
number of negative and from results of a survey of trust an agency the house of
representatives that are considered not open, resulting in public trust to the house of
representatives skids images and the house of representatives be negative in the citizens. The
purpose of this study is to find a role that setjen done public relations for the house of
representatives in an effort to create a positive image of through mobile public information
and use the theory about public relations , image and public information services. This study
uses the descriptive qualitative method. This research is done by in depth interview with Sub-Division Head of PIP and the people that submitted data.
The results of research on the role of public information services shown in Secretary-General Public Relation of the Republic of Indonesia indicate two results. First, to provide
an introduction to information about the role and the function of the public information
services in the House of Representatives to society through socialization by using internal
media such as magazines, bulletins, websites and social media. Second, it is to give an
introduction with giving explanation face to face directly to the society visiting the Secretary-General Public Relation of the Republic of Indonesia. Then, the role of public information
services conducted also shows by full working based on Act of the Republic of Indonesia
Number 14 of 2008 on Public Information Openness. Moreover, the role of public relations
in the Secretary-General of The House of Representatives shows six outcomes. First, giving
explanations to the advocate about PPID and the data needs being applied. Second, giving the
understanding to the society about their needs. Third, giving attention until the society has
obtained the requested data and even there is no information immediately informed. Fourth,
it invites the society to the House of Representatives. Fifth, doing cooperation with outsiders.
Sixth, carrying out paid advertorial to the media. In addition, the effort of creating the
positive image shows five results. Firstly is by providing accurate original data, secondly
provides the right data, thirdly gives fast time, fourthly is to communicate actively to
submitter, and fifthly carries out paid advertorials to the media, doing the media relations that
is first gathering and agenda setting. The findings are based on the people who come to
Secretary-General Public Relation of the Republic of Indonesia in creating a positive image is
said as an effective way because the role that has been done succeeds in giving the public
knowledge and changing the attitude of the people toward the House of Representatives to be
positive until there are some people who will do the act of telling the outside society about
the ease and openness of the House of Representatives
