The research within the "Teaching of History and Historical Knowledge" research line aims to
scrutinize the functions of miracles in medieval Christian society through the analysis of the
Cantigas de Santa Maria. It focuses on the second half of the 13th century and the Kingdom of
Castile and León, in the Iberian Peninsula. This theme seeks to analyze the relationships
between power and religion, aspects that formed a kind of mixture in the Middle Ages. The
Cantigas de Santa Maria are compositions attributed to King Alfonso X of León and Castile
and constitute an important object of study to understand the political, cultural, and religious
relations of the Middle Ages, offering broad possibilities of approach. These compositions
possess a richness of text, music, and iconography. The research proposal is to carry out a study
of the miracle cantigas, weaving relationships between text, image, and historical context, in
order to identify the purposes of the miraculous narratives and their influences on the medieval
imaginary. For this purpose, an analysis of primary sources, the Cantigas de Santa Maria
themselves, and secondary sources, based on historiography, will be carried out.NenhumaA pesquisa trabalhará dentro da Linha de Pesquisa “Ensino de História e Saberes Históricos”
e tem como objetivo perscrutar as funções do milagre na sociedade cristã medieval, através da
análise das Cantigas de Santa Maria. Tem como recorte cronológico a segunda metade do
século XIII e recorte espacial o Reino de Castela e Leão, na Península Ibérica. Essa temática
busca analisar asrelações entre poder e religião, aspectos que formavam uma espécie de mistura
na Idade Média. As Cantigas de Santa Maria são composições atribuídas ao Rei Afonso X, de
Leão e Castela e constituem um importante objeto de estudo para se compreender as relações
políticas, culturais e religiosas da Idade Média, oferecendo amplas possibilidades de
abordagem. Essas composições possuem uma riqueza textual, musical e iconográfica. A
proposta da pesquisa é realizar o estudo das Cantigas de milagre, tecendo relações entre texto,
imagem e contexto histórico, a fim de identificar as finalidades das narrativas miraculosas e
suas influências no imaginário medieval. Para isso será realizada a análise de fontes primárias,
as próprias Cantigas de Santa Maria, e secundárias, tendo como base a historiografia
