O seguinte trabalho tem como objetivo responder à questão “deve-se utilizar tecnologias eugênicas apenas para cura, ou pode-se usar também para melhoramento?”. Assim, o texto desenvolve-se discutindo e contextualizando: (1) alguns dos principais problemas para o uso de engenharia genética de forma positiva a partir da visão bioconservadora de Jürgen Habermas e Michael Sandel para, em seguida, (2) apresentar a teoria ética de Tristam Engelhardt e sua aplicação na bioética. Por fim, (3) analisa-se as possíveis justificativas para a realização de melhoramentos biológicos e suas consequências político-sociais.The following work intends to answer the question “eugenic technologies must be used just for healing or could it also be used for improvement too?”. Therefore, the text is built on the contextualization and discussion of: (1) the bioconservative view of Jürgen Habermas and Michael Sandel on the problems of genetic engineering usage as a positive eugenie and (2) through the presentation of the ethics theory of Tristam Engelhardt and his applications at bioethics. Finally, (3) some of the reasons that justify biological improvement are analyzed attached to some of the political and social consequences that come from it
