Its overarching aim is to let students become “reflective practitioners”, who are able to evaluate research concerning logopaedic and audiological disorders and remedies in a critical way, and are capable of setting up scientific research on relevant topics.   The training programme consists of four years. The first year is a common section of the curriculum offering mainly basic logopaedic and audiological courses, as well as medical and basic science courses. In the second year, students choose their main subject: either logopaedics or audiology. From then, the courses reflect the main fields in audiology such as clinical, prosthetic, rehabilitative and preventive audiology, as well as vestibulology. After the third year, the bachelor’s degree can be achieved having completed all courses and a clinical training of three weeks in various audiological settings. The final year results in a master’s degree. Master students follow advanced courses, continue their training in the work field during 12 weeks and work on a master dissertation.  Masters in logopaedic and audiological sciences are expected to be duly capable of making a significant contribution to diagnosis, by performing and interpreting their own specific examinations, as well as to treatment and follow up of patients. Their multidisciplinary, scientifically underpinned training, linked with a thorough clinical training, also allows the alumni to do scientific research that is relevant in the fields of audiology and vestibulology.
