The relevance of the research topic stems from the need to reinterpret the phenomenon of childhood as a socially and culturally constructed category. An analysis of the historical stages in the formation of ideas about the child – from ancient concepts to contemporary philosophical approaches – makes it possible to trace the evolution of views on the nature of childhood, the boundaries of its autonomy, and its role in the reproduction of culture.The purpose of this study is to comprehend the process of social construction of the phenomenon of childhood in historical retrospect.The results of the research highlight the nature of the ontological, epistemological, and ethical transformations in understanding the concept of childhood under the influence of cultural, social, and worldview changes – from ancient notions of the child as an “imperfect adult” to contemporary metamodernist interpretations that combine the rationality of modernity with the ironic reflexivity of postmodernity.Conclusions. Based on an interdisciplinary approach that includes social constructivism, critical theory, and the interpretation of childhood within postmodern and metamodern paradigms, it is shown that the evolution of the social construction of childhood implies a shift from viewing it as an incomplete stage of growing up to understanding it as a unique form of social existence, and the child – from an object of domination and control to an active subject in creating their own experience within cultural, technological, and institutional contexts.Актуальність теми дослідження зумовлена необхідністю переосмислення феномену дитинства як соціально та культурно сконструйованої категорії. Аналіз історичних етапів становлення уявлень про дитину, від античних концепцій до сучасних філософських підходів, дозволяє виявити еволюцію поглядів на природу дитинства, межі його автономії та роль у відтворенні культури. Метою роботи є осмислення процесу соціального конструювання феномену дитинства в історичній ретроспективі. Результатами дослідження є висвітлення характеру змін онтологічних, епістемологічних та етичних засад розуміння концепту дитинства під впливом культурних, соціальних і світоглядних трансформацій від античних уявлень про дитину як «недосконалого дорослого» до сучасних метамодерністських інтерпретацій, що поєднують раціональність модерну та іронічну рефлексивність постмодерну. Висновки. На основі міждисциплінарного підходу, що включає соціальний конструктивізм, критичну теорію, а також інтерпретацію дитинства у постмодерністській та метамодерністській парадигмах, показано, що еволюція соціального конструювання дитинства передбачає перехід від його розгляду як неповноцінного етапу дорослішання до розуміння як унікальної форми суспільного буття, а дитини – від об’єкту панування і контролю до активного суб’єкту творення власного досвіду в культурному, технологічному та інституційному контекстах
