Ever since human beings began to exist, they need to be covered. In the process of living in acommunity, the need to adapt to the conditions of nature and to cover up in terms of moralitycontinued. The concept of textile has evolved into a developed and transformed sector in order to meetboth the need of people to cover and to look better. In this study, Turkish textile history, developmentof textile and garment industry and situation in Turkey has been evaluated according to current data.Sector's problems in our country are mentioned and solution proposals are presented.İnsanoğlu varolmaya başladığından beri örtünme ihtiyacı duymuştur. Topluluk halindeyaşama sürecinde de doğa şartlarına uyum sağlama ve ahlaksal açıdan örtünme ihtiyacı devametmiştir. Böyle bir gereksinimden ortaya çıkan tekstil kavramı hem insanların örtünme ihtiyacınıkarşılamak hem de daha iyi görünmelerini sağlamak için gelişmiş ve bir sektöre dönüşmüştür. Buçalışmada Türk Tekstil Tarihi, tekstil ve hazırgiyimin Türkiye'deki gelişimi ve durumu güncel verilerışığında değerlendirilmiş, sektörün ülkemizdeki sorunlarından bahsedilmiş ve çözüm önerilerisunulmuştur
