Univetsiti Putra MalaysiaIntelligent Asphalt Mix Tester (Turamesin)Testing of asphalt materials is an expensive business. On an average approxi-mately RM 3 million is invested in equipments that are necessary to determinethe properties of asphalt mixtures.The new cost effective equipment developed at UPM however is capable of measuringseveral properties such as stability, density, resilient modulus, and creep compliance ofasphalt and soil mixtures automatically as they are, rollercompacted. The mix properties are automatically capturedvia pressure sensors and thermocouples embedded in thedeck and analyzed with built-in software.This new device is expected to be relatively inexpensive.
