Abstract
In June 1940, the Soviet security apparatus took over the assets of the Lithuanian State Security Police or VSP (Lithuanian: Valstybės saugumo policija). The People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs (NKVD) of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, established shortly thereafter, absorbed part of the personnel of the Vilnius District VSP, seized its documents and prisoners, and recruited some of its agents. The NKVD soon effectively used these resources to fight the Polish underground in the Vilnius region, the core of which was the Vilnius District of the Union of Armed Struggle (ZWZ).W czerwcu 1940 r. sowiecki aparat bezpieczeństwa przejął aktywa litewskiej Policji Bezpieczeństwa Państwowego (VSP). Utworzony niedługo potem Ludowy Komisariat Spraw Wewnętrznych (NKWD) Litewskiej Socjalistycznej Republiki Sowieckiej wchłonął część personelu Okręgu Wileńskiego VSP, przechwycił jego dokumenty, więźniów oraz przewerbował część agentury. Zasoby te zostały wkrótce skutecznie wykorzystane przez NKWD do walki z polskim podziemiem na Wileńszczyźnie, którego trzon stanowił Okręg Wileński Związku Walki Zbrojnej (ZWZ)
