This thesis presents a comprehensive feasibility study on the integration of high-efficiency hydrogen combustion technologies, with a focus on Rotating Detonation Combustors (RDC), in energy-intensive industrial processes such as reheating furnaces. The work delves into the thermodynamic advantages of Pressure Gain Combustion (PGC) over traditional combustion techniques, highlighting the significant improvements in energy efficiency. The study emphasizes the role of hydrogen as a sustainable fuel alternative, exploring its application across different industrial sectors requiring high-temperature processes. Case studies using MATLAB [108] coding and simplified thermodynamic models were conducted to estimate the impact of using hydrogen and RDC technologies on energy efficiency and emissions. The findings demonstrate that hydrogen combustion, particularly with RDC technology, can significantly improve energy intense industrial processes.Outgoin
