In recent years, there has been an important increase in the number of aesthetic surgeries, with
emphasis on breast surgeries. Due to the popularization of these procedures, this study aimed to
demonstrate the perception of women who underwent aesthetic breast surgery, from the point of
view of health promotion. This is a systematic review of the literature in the PubMed database,
according to the PRISMA metodology (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and
Meta-Analyzes). 2,673 scientific studies were identified, of which 33 were selected to fulfill the
inclusion criteria. The articles were grouped into 7 thematic areas: quality of life, self-esteem,
mental health, physical symptoms, sexuality, body image and satisfaction with the surgery. It is
concluded that the patients significantly improved quality of life and other thematic areas after
surgery. However, longitudinal follow-up studies evaluating patient satisfaction over long
periods are scarce in the literature.Nos últimos anos houve um aumento importante no número de cirúrgias estéticas, com
destaque para cirurgias de mamas. Devido à popularização destes procedimentos, este estudo
teve como objetivo demonstrar a percepção das mulheres submetidas às cirurgias estéticas de
mama, sob o ponto de vista da promoção da saúde. Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática de
literatura na base de dados PubMed, realizada segundo a metodologia PRISMA (Preferred
Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). Foram identificados 2.673
estudos científicos, dos quais 33 foram selecionados por preencherem os critérios de inclusão.
Os artigos foram agrupados em 7 eixos temáticos: qualidade de vida, autoestima, saúde
mental, sintomas físicos, sexualidade, imagem corporal e satisfação com a cirurgia. Concluise
que as pacientes melhoraram significativamente a qualidade de vida e demais eixos
temáticos após a cirurgia. Entretanto, são escassos na literatura estudos longitudinais de
acompanhamento avaliando a satisfação das pacientes por longos períodos
