Abstract
This paper focuses on degree modification on the adjectival domain in Karitiana. More specifically, its aim is to analyze the scalar structures of adjectives modified by the adverb pita (‘very’). This investigation is inspired by the general idea that the distribution and meaning of degree modifiers reveals the nature of the scalar structures involved (KENNEDY; MCNALLY, 2005).O objetivo deste artigo é descrever a modificação de grau no domínio adjetival na língua Karitiana. Mais especificamente, pretende-se analisar as estruturas escalares dos predicados adjetivais modificados pelo advérbio pita (‘muito’) na língua. O trabalho está apoiado na ideia geral de que a distribuição e o significado de modificadores de grau revelam a natureza das estruturas escalares envolvidas (KENNEDY; MCNALLY, 2005)
