Detection of Separation of Laminated Materials by Reflected THz Pulses

Abstract

A method is described for the detection and measurement of subwavelength gaps in laminated non-metallic materials, using numerical processing of returned THz echo pulses. Data from artificially constructed phantoms are presented. Deconvolution using a reference pulse gives depth resolution to a small fraction of a wavelength, enabling corresponding layer separations to be measured
