The article explains the importance of Poland's coastal location from the point
of view of energy security. Due to its policy of limiting the extraction of fossil fuels from its own onshore deposits, Poland is becoming increasingly dependent on energy supplies via sea routes and on energy generated in the Baltic Sea region. Existing (e.g., LNG terminal, Baltic Pipe) and planned (e.g., nuclear energy or offshore wind energy) investments raise hopes that onshore wind energy will be supplemented by offshore wind energy. All this is intended to ensure the security of energy supplies to Poland and strengthen the country's position in the regional and international arena as an intermediary in Eastern European countries' access to the global energy market
