The purpose of the study is to identify the state of consciousness of Polish society in the field of defense capabilities in the event of armed conflict, in particular the state of reserve training, defense education of young people and widespread access to weapons. Based on the survey, which concerned the perception of Polish society of the state of security, the concept of “prepared society” was presented. The research obtained the position of a representative group of more than 1,000 respondents, who gave their views on the research problems described above in the questionnaire submitted to them. In conclusion, it was stated that the security of society should be based on the skills and knowledge of its individual members, who, as a trained and armed group, can become a multimillion-strong army
