Cankar Goes West – Cankar gre na zahod, prevajanje in prevodi dramskega opusa Ivana Cankarja v angleščino

Abstract

The article presents Cankar Goes West (2021), a two-year international project to translate, publish, distribute and promote plays by Ivan Cankar in English. It outlines the origins of the project, the partnership between the Prešeren Theatre Kranj and the Crane Creations Theatre Company from Canada, its instigators and key players, and details the translators involved, as well as the possibilities for staging Cankar’s plays in English­-speaking countries.Članek predstavi dvoletni mednarodni projekt, katerega cilj je bilo prevesti, izdati, distribuirati in promovirati dramski opus Ivana Cankarja v angleščini Cankar Goes West (2021). Oriše nastanek projekta, njegove pobudnike, partnerstvo Prešernovega gledališča Kranj in Crane Creations Theatre Company iz Kanade in financiranje ter podrobneje predstavi sodelujoče prevajalce. Nakaže tudi možnosti za uprizarjanje Cankarjevih dram v angleško govorečih deželah
