In the month of June 1964, the Cuban Journal of Stomatology was created with the aim of stimulating the study and scientific improvement of stomatologists, orthodontists, prosthetists, parodontologists and other professionals and technicians linked to oral health in the country. In a few years, this information body became the first Cuban stomatological journal with a true scientific character and one of the best specialized serial publications in Ibero-America. Currently, it is an official publication of the Editorial Ciencias Médicas (ECIMED) attached to the National Information Center of Medical Sciences(CNICM) of the Ministry of Public Health.The Cuban Journal of Stomatology is processed by the National Library of Medicine of the United States (National Library of Medicine, NLM) for the MEDLINE database and is regularly processed by the CNICM for the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Science database. Health (LILACS), produced by the Regional Health Sciences Information Center (BIREME) based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Both databases are commercialized in optical disc (CD-ROM), with which the scientific production of the Cuban stomatologists is disseminated internationally.As of 1997, the full texts of the journals published by ECIMED appear on the homepagepage, of the electronic information network for health (Infomed). This WEB page http://www.infomed.sld.cu, accessible through the INTERNET, allows interested parties to have the full texts published. In the present index, the information published in the 1964-1998 period is recorded and constitutes a valuable instrument for the search and retrieval of specialized information. In these 35 years, 100 issues were published with 1001 articles from all over the country, especially from the Faculty of Stomatology of the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana, stomatological clinics, clinics and clinico-surgical hospitals.En el mes de junio del año 1964 surge la Revista Cubana de Estomatología con el objetivo de estimular el estudio y la superación científica de los estomatólogos, ortodoncistas, protesistas, parodontólogos y otros profesionales y técnicos vinculados con la salud bucal en el país. En pocos años, este órgano de información se convirtió en la primera revista estomatológica cubana con verdadero carácter científico y una de las mejores publicaciones seriadas especializadas en Iberoamérica. Actualmente, es una publicación oficial de la Editorial Ciencias Médicas (ECIMED) anexa al Centro Nacional de Información de Ciencias Médicas(CNICM) del Ministerio de Salud Pública.La Revista Cubana de Estomatología es procesada por la Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina de los Estados Unidos (National Library of Medicine, NLM) para la base de datos MEDLINE y el CNICM la procesa regularmente para la base de datos Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud (LILACS), producida por el Centro Regional de Información en Ciencias de la Salud (BIREME) con sede en Sao Paulo, Brasil. Ambas bases de datos se comercializan en disco óptico (CD-ROM), con lo cual se difunde internacionalmente la producción científica de los estomatólogos cubanos. A partir del año 1997, los textos completos de las revistas que publica la ECIMED, aparecen en la homepage, de la red electrónica de información para la salud (Infomed). Esta página WEB http://www.infomed.sld.cu, accesible a través de INTERNET, permite a los interesados disponer de los textos completos publicados. En el presente índice se registra la información publicada en el período 1964-1998 y constituye un valioso instrumento para la búsqueda y recuperación de información especializada.
