This work had as objective to promote environmental education to raise awareness of the
ecological importance Of aquatic mammals and semiaquáticos the Amazon by means of
lectures to students enrolled In the series of second and third year of the average education of
a public school located in a community in the municipality Careiro da Vázea – AM. These
lectures were dealt with general knowledge about reproduction, ecological importance, and
the status of conservation of aquatic mammals and semiaquáticos, because they treat animals
that can occur in these municipalities and also on behalf of all these are in some degree of
threat. For data collection was used an initial questionnaire with students to explore its
conception with about the subject and after the lectures in addition to the discussion on the
theme with the same There was the implementation of a final questionnaire to verify which
was the change in these conception. In a general way, the lecture was efficient in the sense of
promoting environmental education which is evidenced through the answers obtained by the
application of the final questionnaire in comparison with the initial ideas of these students at
the beginning of the application of this research, verifying if this positive result for the
proposed objective.Este trabalho assumiu o objetivo de promover a educação ambiental sobre a importância
ecológica de mamíferos aquáticos e semiaquáticos da Amazônia por meio de palestras, para
alunos matriculados nas séries de 2º e 3º anos do ensino médio regular, de uma escola pública
localizada em uma comunidade do município Careiro da Várzea - AM. Nas palestras foram
abordados conhecimentos gerais acerca da reprodução, importância ecológica e status de
conservação de mamíferos aquáticos e semiaquáticos, por se tratarem de animais que podem
ocorrer nesses municípios e ainda por estarem em algum grau de ameaça. Para a coleta de
dados foi utilizado um questionário aos alunos para explorar suas concepções prévias a
respeito do assunto, além da discussão sobre o tema com os mesmos, houve a aplicação de um
questionário final para verificar qual foi a mudança nessas concepções. De maneira geral, a
ação (palestra) se mostrou eficiente no sentido da promoção da educação ambiental, como
valor estratégico, o que se comprovou por meio das respostas obtidas pela aplicação do
questionário final em comparação às ideias iniciais dos alunos no começo da aplicação desta
pesquisa, ressaltando-se assim o resultado positivo e ratificando o objetivo central do
trabalho
