The effect of the transformational leadership characteristics of school principals according to teachers' perceptions on the levels of teachers' job satisfaction

Abstract

Bu araştırmada okul müdürlerinin gösterdiği liderlik özelliklerinin öğretmenlerin iş doyumu düzeylerine etkisinin incelemesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla araştırmada genel tarama modellerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmış ve toplamda 328 öğretmenden Dönüşümcü Liderlik ve Minnesota İş Doyumu Ölçeği yardımıyla veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler, t testi, anova, regresyon ve korelasyon değerlerine bakılarak analiz edilmiştir. Okul müdürlerinin dönüşümcü liderlik özelliklerinin, içsel ve dışsal doyumlarında; cinsiyet, yaş, çalıştıkları okul türleri, kıdem değişkenlerinin anlamlı bir farklılık oluşturduğu görülürken; mezuniyet durumu değişkenine göre anlamlı bir farklılık görülmemiştir. Öğretmenlerce algılanan iş doyum düzeyleri ve okul müdürlerine ilişkin dönüşümcü liderlik özellik algıları arasında pozitif yönlü olarak anlamlı ve orta derecede bir ilişki olduğu görülmektedir. Algılanan dönüşümcü liderlik özelliklerinin öğretmen katılımcıların iş doyumlarını anlamlı bir şekilde yordadığı ve pozitif yönlü etkilediği sonucu ortaya çıkmıştır.This study is performed to examine the effect of school principals' transformational leadership characteristics on teachers' job satisfaction levels, according to teachers' perceptions. The relational survey model, one of the general survey models, was used in the research and data were collected from 328 teachers with the help of Transformational Leadership and Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale. The data obtained from the research were analyzed by looking at the t test, anova, regression and correlation values. In the internal and external satisfactions of the transformational leadership characteristics of school principals; gender, age, type of school they work in, seniority variables are seen to make a significant difference; There was no significant difference according to the graduation status variable. It is seen that there is a positive and moderately significant relationship between the transformational leadership characteristics of the school principals and the job satisfaction of the teachers. It was concluded that the transformational leadership characteristics of the school principals significantly predicted the job satisfaction of the teachers and positively affected them
